Electrical Project Manager – Data Centres

Localização: Portugal

Overview

JDL Recruitment is supporting a leading European data centre contractor in the search for an experienced Electrical Project Manager to join its delivery team in Portugal.

This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of the electrical delivery on a large-scale hyperscale data centre project, working for one of Europe's most established mission-critical contractors. You will be responsible for leading the electrical package from installation through to commissioning, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Working closely with project leadership, subcontractors, consultants and the end client, you will play a key role in driving programme, quality and commercial performance across a fast-paced, technically complex project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of all electrical works across the project lifecycle, ensuring programme, quality and safety objectives are achieved.
  • Manage electrical subcontractors, package managers, engineers, supervisors and site teams throughout project delivery.
  • Coordinate electrical design, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning activities.
  • Monitor project progress against programme, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies where required.
  • Drive productivity through effective short and long-term planning, including weekly programmes and look-ahead schedules.
  • Ensure all electrical installations comply with project specifications, client requirements and relevant industry standards.
  • Oversee labour alLocalização, plant, materials and resource planning to maximise project efficiency.
  • Maintain close communication with clients, consultants and internal stakeholders throughout the project.
  • Chair weekly coordination meetings with construction, QA/QC, Health & Safety and BIM teams.
  • Review technical documentation, RFIs, change requests and construction reports.
  • Produce weekly progress reports covering programme, procurement, commercial variations, safety performance and project risks.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across site, ensuring compliance with all Empresa and statutory health & safety requirements.
  • Support project commissioning and successful handover to the client.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years' experience delivering major electrical construction projects.
  • Previous experience as an Electrical Project Manager or Senior Electrical Construction Manager.
  • Experience delivering large-scale projects within data centres, mission-critical, commercial, pharmaceutical, industrial or other complex MEP environments.
  • Data centre project experience is highly desirable.
  • Electrical trade background or Engineering qualification.
  • Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, testing, commissioning and QA/QC processes.
  • Proven ability to manage project programmes, commercial performance and multidisciplinary delivery teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • EU work eligibility or ability to obtain the relevant work authorisation.
