Job Overview
FARO’s Global Business Systems is seeking a hands‑on, dynamic and seasoned SAP BASIS Administrator to maintain and support SAP landscapes (ECC, BTP, BW, CPQ, GRC, etc.) to ensure integrity and stability. The role involves overseeing the implementation and day‑to‑day operations of SAP ecosystems, ensuring system stability, performance tuning, and compliance with security standards while partnering with internal customers and stakeholders. It is a hybrid role with a minimum of 2 days in the office per week in Porto, Portugal.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, maintain, tune, troubleshoot and support SAP landscapes (ECC, BTP, BW, CPQ, GRC, etc.) to ensure integrity and stability.
- Perform daily administration, monitoring, and system health checks.
- Monitor and optimize system performance (CPU, memory, storage) and perform regular health checks.
- Plan and execute system upgrades, enhancement packs, kernel patches, and system migrations.
- Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
- Proactively monitor SAP systems to identify potential issues, manage incidents, and provide solutions to technical challenges.
- Apply SAP Best Practices under Focused Run & Focused Build, monitor issue resolution, participate in high‑priority issues, and ensure quality deliverables.
- Manage the SAP Transport Management System (TMS) and ensure proper movement of configuration changes across landscapes.
- Maintain up‑to‑date system documentation, including technical architecture diagrams, procedures, and best practices.
- Lead and execute SAP migrations (e.g., from on‑premises to cloud, OS/DB migrations).
- Collaborate with functional teams and developers for system integrations, troubleshooting, and overall SAP landscape management.
- Assist in designing and configuring high‑availability and disaster‑recovery solutions for SAP environments.
- Coordinate with SAP support, hardware vendors, and other third‑party providers to resolve issues, manage escalations, and ensure license compliance.
- Partner with SAP‑Security and Audit teams to maintain compliance with organizational security standards and SAP best practices.
- Build collaboration by encouraging trust, mutual respect, and shared purpose among team members.
- Provide feedback to teams and incorporate customer data into strategies and action plans to enhance product and service quality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, or related business process with 10+ years of related work experience OR Master’s degree in the field with 7+ years of related work experience.
- 10+ years of SAP BASIS hands‑on experience in maintaining SAP landscapes, upgrades, and migrations while collaborating with SAP functional teams.
- Hands‑on experience in SAP Basis administration, managing, monitoring, transport system management, periodic system refreshes, upgrades/support packs, tuning, and troubleshooting of SAP systems.
- Experience with SAP ECC 6.0, CPQ, BTP (CPI) and BW, including installation and maintenance of SAP ecosystems and software components for ECC and HANA.
- Ability to prioritize and resolve break‑fix and enhancement tickets.
- Experience planning and implementing SAP upgrades and new implementations as required.
- Daily monitoring, administration, troubleshooting, and tuning of all SAP systems.
- Manage SAP user access and security settings.
- Hands‑on experience with SAP S/4HANA, SAP Fiori, SAP BASIS & Security, SAP BTP, and integration solutions.
- Skilled in monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting SAP HANA systems using SAP HANA Cockpit and HANA Studio; implementing SAP HANA security and performance optimization.
- Experience in memory management, system monitoring, performance tuning, system refresh/copy, SAP backup and recovery strategies, and high‑availability configurations.
- Knowledge of system integration, ALE/IDoc administration, batch management, database administration, SAP HANA databases, installation, monitoring, and tuning.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, planning, and communications skills; ability to lead discussions, present ideas, and communicate effectively at all levels.
- Ability to work in a team environment, support ongoing program/projects, and handle troubleshooting independently.
- Self‑motivated, results‑driven with a positive attitude for timely delivery of agreed‑upon solutions.
- Ability to work under stress to meet deadlines while managing multiple and changing business priorities.
