We are currently hiring a Head of Finance Service to lead and transform finance operations within a new Global Business Services (GBS) based in Porto.

This is a senior leadership role for a strategic and operationally strong finance professional, responsible for delivering high-quality, compliant, and efficient finance services at scale, while driving continuous improvement and transformation.

The Role

This Head of Finance Service role is responsible for delivering high-quality, compliant, and efficient finance services across multiple geographies, while driving transformation and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Service Delivery & Operational Excellence

• Lead end-to-end finance service delivery
• Ensure performance against SLAs, KPIs, and customer satisfaction targets
• Own period-end close activities (month, quarter, year) with accuracy and timeliness
• Act as escalation point for operational issues, ensuring sustainable resolution

Governance, Risk & Compliance

• Ensure strong governance frameworks across finance operations
• Maintain compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and regulations
• Partner with Audit and Finance teams on risk management and remediation
• Safeguard data integrity and financial accuracy

Transformation & Continuous Improvement

• Drive standardization, simplification, and best practice adoption
• Lead transformation initiatives leveraging Lean, Six Sigma, and automation (RPA, digital tools)
• Support migrations and scope expansion into GBS
• Collaborate with IT and GPOs on system and operating model enhancements

Stakeholder Management

• Build strong relationships with senior Finance stakeholders globally
• Act as a strategic partner to the retained Finance organization
• Provide visibility on performance, risks, and improvement opportunities

Performance & Cost Management

• Manage service delivery costs within budget
• Monitor productivity, efficiency, and value creation
• Identify cost optimization opportunities and support business cases for transformation

Leadership & Talent Development

• Lead and develop a high-performing finance organization
• Manage senior leaders and cross-functional teams
• Drive capability building, succession planning, and engagement
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Your Profile

• 10+ years’ experience in Finance, Shared Services, or GBS environments
• Strong expertise across core finance processes
• Proven leadership experience in large-scale, international organizations
• Track record in finance transformation, process optimization, and transitions
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, controls, and compliance
• Experience in matrix and global environments
• Strategic thinking with strong execution capability
• Stakeholder management and influencing skills
• Data-driven decision-making
• Change and transformation leadership
• Strong people leadership and coaching mindset
• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
• Fluent in English
