Mould / Composites Service Repair Technician

We are currently looking for an experienced Mould / Composites Service Repair Technician to support our activities in Portugal.

Seguinte Composite, part of the Seguinte Fabrication group, specialises in composite manufacturing and services for the wind industry. Based in Portugal, Seguinte Composite supports rotor blade production through repairs, inspection, and technical services.

Your Role & Responsibilities:

Ensuring high-performance composite repair and mould maintenance on site

The Mould / Composites Service Repair Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and refurbishing composite moulds, tooling, and composite structures used in industries such as wind energy, aerospace, marine, automotive, and industrial manufacturing.

The technician ensures moulds and composite components meet quality, dimensional, and operational requirements while minimizing downtime and extending service life.

The Cargo requires a high level of flexibility and a willingness to travel, as you will support projects across multiple Localizaçãos within and outside Europe when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Mould / Composites Service Repair Technician, your role is essential in ensuring that moulds and composite components are maintained, repaired, and restored to support safe, efficient, and high-quality production.

Mould Inspection & Maintenance

  • Inspect moulds and tooling for wear, damage, cracks, delamination, and surface defects.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on moulds, plugs, fixtures, and tooling systems.
  • Conduct dimensional and visual inspections to verify mould integrity.
  • Prepare moulds for production through cleaning, polishing, waxing, and surface conditioning.

Composite Repair Activities

  • Repair damaged fiberglass, carbon fiber, and composite structures.
  • Perform grinding, sanding, cutting, filling, laminating, and finishing operations.
  • Apply gel coats, resin systems, adhesives, and composite repair materials.
  • Restore mould surfaces to required dimensional and cosmetic standards.
  • Repair composite defects such as cracks, voids, delamination, and impact damage.

 

Service & Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose root causes of mould and composite failures.
  • Recommend repair methods and preventive actions.
  • Support emergency breakdown repairs to minimize production interruptions.
  • Assist with mould modifications, upgrades, and refurbishment projects.

 

Quality & Documentation

  • Follow repair procedures, engineering drawings, and quality standards.
  • Complete repair records, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation.
  • Verify repairs meet customer and engineering specifications.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and quality initiatives.

 

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Follow safe handling procedures for resins, solvents, adhesives, and composite materials.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with safety regulations.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Adhere to environmental and waste-disposal requirements

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

Core Requirements 

  • Technical Certification in Mechanical, Composite Technology, Tooling, Manufacturing, or related fields.
  • 4 – 5 years’ experience in wind turbine blade repair, mould maintenance, marine composites, aerospace composites, or FRP manufacturing.
  • Composite repair certifications are an advantage.

 

Preferred Industry Experience

  • Wind turbine blade manufacturing and repair.
  • Aerospace composite structures.
  • Marine and boat-building industries.
  • Automotive composite manufacturing.
  • Industrial FRP and composite tooling.

Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge of fiberglass, carbon fiber, epoxy, polyester, vinyl ester composites.
  • Experience in composite repair and mould maintenance techniques.
  • Ability to perform hand lay-up, vacuum bagging, infusion, and bonding repairs.
  • Skilled in grinding, sanding, polishing, and surface finishing.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and repair instructions.
  • Familiarity with inspection and measurement tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
