A day in your life with us

  • Learn to manage the lifecycle of all IT assets.
  • Support on-site project implementation/deployment efforts with regard to implementation of new Digital products.
  • Provide hardware and software support for end users at multiple sites.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine monitoring to include creation and follow-up of a service schedule for fixed assets, daily and weekly review of all applicable monitoring tools in order to identify and avoid potential business interruptions.
  • Take necessary actions to solve issues, as well as prioritize issues according to business needs, and know when and how to escalate an issue in the support chain.
  • Provide hands-on basic technical training for onsite support staff and of new hires, including setting up and introducing technical equipment (e.g. laptops).
  • Provide input on what digital equipment/products might be in risk of downtime and suggest solutions to ensure the business continuity plan is secured and in place for all critical equipment/products.
  • Coordinate and manage local vendors and local contact points to global vendorsAs an instore Technical Support Specialist, you will:
  • provide primary 1st & 2nd line technical support, covering a home store location base and to other IKEA stores / units, within a larger regional team;
  • provide support and cover for business-as-usual service desk covering tasks as well as support for location and national project.
  • Manage the Windows Workstations Environment (Windows 8.1, 10 and 11)
  • Set up computers, laptops, printers, tablets as well as Android and IOS devices
  • Perform applications installation/deployment
  • Manage users and computers (Active Directory)
  • Set up Wi-fi client and VPN
  • Network cable patching, Layer two network configuration experience
  • Replace laptop, Desktop, and printer hardware parts.

What you need to know

This position is full-time, you will work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9 am – 5 pm could work occasional Sunday nights. Some work can only be done at night whilst the store is closed so some weekly night shift work could also be required.
The home store Location is Matosinhos with travel to other stores within a 45-minute travel radius. Some overnight stay may be required. Someone who has a drivers license and owns transport would be preferred for this role.
